    WHAT HAPPENED?

Timber joined Arsenal in the summer of 2023 from Ajax in a sensational move that would have seen him become a starter for Arteta straight away. However, just two games into the season, Timber suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear and was only able to return for the last game of the season.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Timber started the preseason as normal as he looked to rise up the pecking order for Arteta, however, after playing in the first two friendlies against Bournemouth and Manchester United, he was dropped for the next few clashes. The Arsenal boss revealed that the Dutch defender had discomfort and was therefore unable to participate, but Arteta has now provided an update on Timber's return.

Speaking to the media, Arteta said: "It's fine. He's been doing some individual work, that's clear now. So we expect him to be ready to train with the group in the next week, because he has no reaction. So quite positive."
